Summer Newsletter: Attached is our summer newsletter with information about important dates for next year.

June 29th – The Last Day of School: June 29th is the last day of school for our students. We wish all of our students, families and the entire John English community a safe and happy holiday. If students find there is nothing to do in the summer it is always a good practice to read for 20 – 40 minutes a day and to talk to parents about what you have read. Reading is a great form of entertainment and helps to keep students prepared for the start of a new school year.

Award Ceremonies: Tuesday June 28th we held our Grade 8 Graduation and recognized outstanding achievement. It was followed by our Grade 6 and 7 award assemblies in the morning of June 29th. We say congratulations, to all of our students for their achievements this year. At the beginning students were challenged to set goals for themselves and if they strived to achieve their goals they were learning. All students should be proud of their successes.

Return to School: On Tuesday September 6th the doors will open again to welcome our students back for another exciting year of learning. Students are reminded to meet teachers on the paved playground to the east of the school. Class lists will be posted on the front doors on George Street at 4:00 p.m on the Friday prior to school. Senior Kindergarten French Immersion students will gather in the fenced-in play yard at the north end of the school on George Street and enter through our Kindergarten doors.

Staff Changes: As each year winds down we experience changes in our staff at John English. We thank all the departing staff for the dedication and effort toward the success of our students. Ms. Waye’s and Mme Diab’s long term occasional positions come to an end on June 30th. Mr. Sylvester has accepted a transfer to Winona Drive Senior Public School. Mr. Bedrosian has accepted a transfer to Windfields Senior Public School. Mme Cosgrove is moving on to greater adventures. Mme Lauziere is retiring after immersing students in the French culture of song, dance and drama for over 30 years. We wish all of our staff success in their next stage of teaching and learning. Mme Gravel and Mme Sowah will not be with us next year as they will be home with their growing families. And as was announced last week, we congratulate Mme Salama on her promotion to Vice-Principal at Winchester Junior and Senior Public School.

Are You Moving?: As we continue to plan for the 2016 – 2017 school year it is important that we are made aware of any changes in our student population and to assist any students with a transition to a new school. If you are expecting to move prior to September, please contact the school office with details.

Indigo Flip Give: John English JMS SAC still has the Indigo Gift Card fundraiser available where you can shop and support our school at the same time!
