Quiznos Lunch Days – A healthy, nutritious lunch is important to ensure that our students are prepared for learning throughout the day. Our ECO and Equity teams led by Ms. West help parents with the preparation of lunch on Quiznos lunch days. Students are able to enjoy a great lunch and help out a number of charitable causes throughout the year. Our first Quiznos lunch day is scheduled for October 21 in support of ‘Feed Tomorrow’.

Monday, October 10th – Thanksgiving Day Holiday – School Closed: Monday, October 10th the school will be closed for the observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. School will resume on Tuesday, October 11th.

Cross – Country Meets: Congratulations to all of our Grade 3 – 8 students who have been training so diligently early in the morning. Students had an opportunity to compete in the Western Conference Preliminary meet on October 5th. The weather was fantastic for running and our students were tremendous in their efforts. Any student who finished in the top 50 will race again on October 19 at Centennial Park. Congratulations to all those students who accomplished their goals by finishing the race or beating their personal best. Special congratulations to Roman, Hannah, Oliver who finished first place and to Ela, Annie, Kate and Callum for their top 10 finishes.

Extra – Curricular Activities: Before school, at lunch and after school, John English continues to be a busy, thriving hub of activity. Many activities take place throughout the day as students are involved in in a range of sports, arts and science activities. Information about these activities is communicated through morning announcements, classroom teachers and on bulletin boards throughout the school. Students are encouraged to use their agenda to record practice and meeting dates.

Grade 9 Information Night: Thursday, October 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium, Ms. Bryer, our Guidance Counsellor will be holding an information session for all Grade 8 parents and students to assist with planning for Grade 9. All parents are encouraged to attend this session as we prepare our students for a smooth transition to Grade 9. Attached is a copy of the schedule for Grade 9 Information evenings being held at TDSB Secondary Schools.

Fresh from the Farm: Back by popular demand, the Fresh From the Farm program is supported by our School Council. Students have the opportunity to sell fresh Ontario apples and vegetables to friends and family to raise funds for our school AND support our local farmers! There are 2 prize incentives:

GRAND PRIZE: Bring your orders in for a chance to win a random draw for one Apple iPod Touch.

CLASS PRIZE: The class that raises the most money will win an “Apple Pie Party”.

Forms and payment are due by Tuesday October 11, 2016.

QSP Magazine Drive: QSP fundraising materials will be sent home with students on Tuesday, October 11th. If your family is participating in our school fundraising activities or you have been waiting to renew your magazine subscriptions, take time to review what is available and to order online.
