French Immersion Information Night – Wednesday November 9th: John English will be holding a French Immersion information night on Wednesday November 9th beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Students who are presently in Junior Kindergarten and were born in the year 2012 are eligible to apply for the French Immersion program. Applications are completed entirely online and communication from the board will come via email. It is important for parents to check their email regularly. All on-time applicants will be provided a French Immersion placement within the board. On occasion, due to the volume of applications, it is necessary to re-direct students to alternate French Immersion locations which can be different than previous years. The application process can begin at http://www.tdsb.on.ca/pars .

Trustee Gough’s Ward Forum – Tuesday November 15th: Trustee Gough will be holding her November Ward Forum on Tuesday, November 15th beginning at 7:00 p.m. The title of the forum is ‘Ask Me Anything’ and features Director John Malloy, Trustee Pamela Gough, and Superintendents Sandra Tondat and Tracy Hayhurst. The forum will take place in the school library. If parents have questions about the school board, board policies and directions, you are encouraged to attend. More information is available in the attached flyer.

Leaving School Property at Lunch Time: In the beginning of September we sent home a package of information and permission forms for our parents and students which included a letter about leaving the school property at lunch for our Grade 7 and 8 students only. It is expected that if a Kindergarten to Grade 6 student leaves school at lunch that they go directly home and that they are not purchasing lunch in the neighbourhood. Please note the change in our procedures for this year, Grade 6 students are to remain on the school property at lunch time throughout the year.

Financial Literacy Month: November is financial literacy month which is a great time to remind students and parents about the importance of saving for education. Up to $2000.00 in grant money per child is available through Canadian Learning Bond program. The TDSB has partnered with Smartsaver to make it easy for families to open a no cost Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). More information is available at http://www.tdsb.on.ca/SmartSAVE

Parent Involvement Advisory Committee: The theme of the 2016 conference is Parents and Communities Partnering for Student Achievement. Presented by the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) and the TDSB Parent and Community Engagement Office, this free event will feature a keynote address by renowned author and speaker Jennifer Kolari, along with a wide range of workshops, networking opportunities, and information about TDSB programs and services. A flyer for the event is attached.

Registration is now open for the:
