Friday December 23rd, 2016 – John English Update Twitter @JohnenglishJM

Holiday Break – December 26 – January 6: The snow is on the ground and the winter weather is here just in time for the winter holiday season. The school will be closed for the next two weeks for the students and families. We hope that everyone has an opportunity to spend some time with families and friends throughout the holiday season. We wish everyone a special holiday time and a happy and prosperous new year and look forward to the return of our students on Monday, January 9th, 2017.

Welcome Back, Ms Jenkins: We welcome back Ms. Jenkins who returns to us after her short leave. We thank Ms. Litner for her time at John English. Upon her departure, Ms. Litner stated, “John English was a wonderful school to visit. The students are respectful and curious about their learning and the staff were helpful and welcoming.” It is great to see visitors to the school recognize what makes John English a wonderful place to be.

Food and Toy Drive: Thank you to all those families who generously donated items at John English for the Daily Break Food Bank and for the Toronto Police 22 Division toy drive. Your thoughts for others during this time of year are greatly appreciated.

Grade 3 Social Studies: The Grade 3 classes of Mme Baillet, Mme D’Sa, Mr. Hyatt and Mme Melvin created projects about Ontario cities this month for the Living and Working in Ontario Social Studies unit. The students used recycled materials to show their care for the environment to present their inquiries of each city. Mme Melvin’s grade 2’s learned about different countries. The students showcased their work in the library this week, answering questions from various visitors including parents, teachers and students.
