Music By the Lake Camp: Are you looking for a musical camp experience for your child. The TDSB Music by the Lake Camp experience takes place from June 3rd to June 10th and is available to any student in Grade 6–8. This unique program provides a blend of music education and camping skills by taking music instruction from the school classroom to a residential camp setting. It provides an opportunity for additional enriched musical training plus valuable social and recreational activity. Although the deadline is listed as March 1st, 2017, it is our understanding that there are still places available for more students. Further information and applications are available at https://sites.google.com/a/tdsb.on.ca/music-by-the-lake/ Any further inquiries can be directed to the John English office.

Grade 8 Graduation Photographs: Our school photographer has taken photos of all of our Grade 8 students. However, if you were absent or you would prefer a re-take of the photographs we have scheduled a re-take day for Thursday, April 13th beginning at 1:00 p.m. Parents can communicate that they would like a re-take for their child through a note or message in the child’s agenda prior to April 13th.
Kick-Off to Canada Day: Mark your calendars for the evening of June 28th for a free community event opportunity, Kick-Off to Canada Day. Humber College extends an invitation to our school community for a Kick-Off to Canada Day event being held on June 28, 2017. Kick-off to Canada Day is an exciting evening filled with entertainment and activities for families and community. This free community gathering for Canada’s 150th Anniversary of confederation and Humber’s 50th Anniversary is sure to be a spectacular occasion that is not to miss. The event will be held at 19 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, Etobicoke, ON from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will mark the grand opening of the brand new Lakeshore Commons Field.
Dental Screening continues: The Public Health dental nurses will be in the school until April 21st to screen all students. If the nurses notice a concern they will provide written contact to parents for follow up. All of our Kindergarten to Grade 5 students will receive a toothbrush and toothpaste after they have had their teeth screened courtesy of Brush-A-Mania.
Trustee Gough Update: Trustee Gough will have her next Ward Forum on Tuesday, April 25th. She would like to extend an invitation to all school communities to hear an impassioned and moving speaker during Earth Week: Gil Penalosa, Chair of 8-80 Cities. Gil is a renowned advocate for increasing the liveability factor in the urban structure of school communities to make them safer places for people of all ages, from 8 to 80 (hence the name of the organization) to be mobile in. He will be speaking at Karen Kain School of the Arts, 60 Berl Avenue, on Tuesday April 25 at 7 pm. Further information can be found in the attached poster.
