September Newsletter: The September newsletter was sent to all John English families through our School Connects email system. If you did not receive the newsletter please contact the office to update your email address. A copy of the newsletter is attached. The September newsletter is the only newsletter of the year. The Friday Update will provide parents and families with an account of the highlights of the week and look ahead to future dates.
September 5th – The First Day of School: It was great to see so many happy, energetic and excited new and familiar faces enter École John English JMS on the first day of school. The students have done well meeting new classmates, learning new routines and taking on the responsibility to be prepared for their day. Everyone is off to a great start. We look forward to continued learning and success throughout the year.
Building Repairs and Maintenance: Even though the students and teaching staff have a chance during the summer break to enjoy a rest from school, our caretakers and contractors continued to work throughout the summer. If you visited the school this week you would notice that scaffolding continues to be in place on the east side of the school where our playground is located. The work area is safely fenced off and out of bounds for all the students. We have been told to expect the construction to be completed by the end of October.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up of Students: Thank you to all those parents who drive their children to school and use our Kiss and Ride in the parking lot. Students can be safely dropped off or picked up within ten minutes of entry and exit times. Please remember that the school buses need access to the front of the school and as such we are unable to accommodate individual cars in the bus loading zones.
Lunchtime and Lunch Bags: The John English population is almost 900 students and lunch time is a very busy time of the day. On occasion a lunch bag may go missing or get lost. Parents and students are reminded to ensure that their lunch bag and other belongings are labeled with a name that will assist us in reconnecting lost items to the owner.
