Once you have entered the event code, you may select the grade, the teacher and time slot. It is suggested that if you have multiple bookings that you leave a space of 10 minutes between each booking to allow travel time between classes.

February 7th – Winter Walk and Global Play Day: Last week the update informed families about value of Global Play day. This week our John English EcoSchools Team is working with our Kindergarten, Primary and Junior Divisions to participate in a joint Winter Walk and Global Play day on Wednesday, February 7th! The afternoon will begin with a walk around the neighbourhood to be followed by a variety of play opportunities that the students will self-select.

Walking to school in winter has many potential benefits, including benefits for your child’s health and well-being, opportunities to learn and socialize on the way to school, and arriving to school alert and ready to learn. Walk with your child to school next Wednesday to join in the celebration! If you’re on your way somewhere else and plan on driving to your next destination, consider walking and taking transit (see Google maps for available transit routes to/from your destination:, or park/drop your child off a block or two away from the school to walk the rest of the way in. Don’t forget to review Winter Walking Tips. Follow along at: #walktoschool, @CanadaWalks and @JohnEnglishJM!

Excursion Permission Forms: On occasion, teachers investigate and schedule excursions to enhance the learning experience in the classroom. Parents are informed of the excursions through classroom websites and by an excursion permission form that is sent home with students. It is important for students to return to the teacher a completed permission form before the day of the trip. If a completed permission trip form has not been returned to the school prior to the trip, alternate arrangements will be made for the student learning on that day. These forms provide the teacher and the school with valuable information and indicate that the parent gives express permission for their child to be participating.

Pyjama Day: Our John English Pyjama Spirit day was a tremendous success. Over 80% of our students and staff took advantage of the spirit day to arrive to school in their comfortable and warm pyjamas. Thank you to the Student Council for organizing such a great successful spirit day. Winning classes will be informed of their prizes early next week.

Bag2School: Thank you to all of our families and community members who donated used clothing items and textiles to our Bag2School campaign. John English JMS dropped off more than 1 tonne of items to be reused and recycled, a great effort for our environment!
