This Week’s Friday Update: Ski Day, Concours d’Art Oratoire, Pizza Day, Parents as Partners Conference, John English Lunchtime Programs, Sports Update
Ski Day – February 22: The John English Ski Day was a tremendous success. Students, parents and staff rose early in the morning, some as early as 5:00 a.m., to travel to Snow Valley for a day on the slopes. Despite the rain that we had early in the week, the snow base remained in tact and the hills and weather were prefect for the day. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for assisting with supervision on the trip and to Mme Kamnik, Mme Mazelet and Ms. Rome for all their efforts organizing this wonderful day.
Concours d’Art Oratoire: Our Grade 4–8 students particpated in the Concours d’Art Oratoire today in the auditorium. This French public speaking contest gives students an opportunity to demonstrate their French speaking skills in front of their peers. Class representatives are chosen in the weeks leading up to the event. Congratulations to all of our participants. John English will be sending Alison Thompson (Core French), Jack Kuttner-Zubac and Adam Booth (Extended French), Landon Woods and Paula Zygaitis (French Immersion) to the next level of competition at the board on March 20th
Pizza Day: The last Friday of each month is Pizza Day at John English. In January our Kindergarten students joined the Pizza lunch participants. Each month our eager volunteers delivery over 150 pizzas in less than 20 minutes to our hungry students. Thank you to all parents who help with our pizza lunch program, your efforts allow these special lunch days to happen.
