Scholastic Book Fair – Call for Volunteers Dec 1, 5, 6 & 7

Now that the rush of Hallowee’en is finished (whew!), its on to that great November event called the JEJMS Book Fair! 🙂

Seriously, we are running the Scholastic Book Fair AGAIN this year and we would love your help! The proceeds go to help fund new books and resources for the school library and the French and English resource/reading rooms/programs.

A few small changes this year …

First, the Book Fair is running a little later this year: December 1 – December 7 – so just in time for Holiday Shopping (but not over the parent-teacher interviews like last year).

We are going to staff the Book Fair starting at 8:30 am to allow parents the opportunity to shop before school drop off (classes won’t be invited in until 9 am). If you sign up for the first shift and can’t make it until 8:40 when the bell rings that is fine. Please still sign up for that shift! Between Ms. Jenkins and myself we will be available to provide cover.

We will keep the Book Fair open over lunch (11:30-12:30) for buying only (no browsing).

For parents to shop, we are considering keeping it open after school – on Tuesday December 6th until 5 or 6 pm and on Wednesday December 7th until 7 or 8 pm – if we can find enough volunteers. If you are interested and able to help out for a 2 hour shift during either of the Tuesday after school/till 5 or 6 pm or the Wednesday after school/early evening please let me know.

We are also super excited to have Ms. Jenkins as the School Sponsor of the program.

I have the following shifts available on Thursday December 1, Monday December 5, Tuesday December 6, and Wednesday December 7. We would ask that if you have pre-school age children that they don’t accompany you – simply because it gets very busy in the room – if this means that you need to wait a year or two to volunteer we totally understand (and can’t wait to have you join us when you are ready!).

Shift 1 – 8:30-9:45 – need 3 people
Shift 2: 9:45-11:00 – need 3 people
Shift 3: 11:00-12:30 – need 3 people
Shift 4: 12:30-1:45 – need 3 people
Shift 5: 1:45-3:15 – need 3 people

The duties are fairly straightforward – helping students with book and fair selections and managing the sale of books and other sundry items.

Please let us know if you are able to help out and please feel free to pass this note along. Contact Mel c/o sacinfo@johnenglish.ca
