Staff Appreciation Breakfast

The 2019 Staff Appreciate Breakfast is on May 31st!

Each year this event gives us a chance to show the staff of John English how much we appreciate all that they do, and each year the John English families help us do just that.

We are looking for donations of:

Food – washed and prepped fruit, baked goods, breakfast casseroles, shrimp rings, yoghurt, savoury breakfast items, cheese, and any other yummy foods you can share!

Time – we need volunteers to help set up the evening before (Thursday after school), and to help run the event the day of (shifts available from 8am to early afternoon).

Money – monetary donations help us buy coffee, tea, plates, any missing food items, and other supplies.  Cash can be dropped off to the office with the name of the student, parent, and student’s teacher noted on the envelope.

If you would like to donate your time, money, food, or participate in any other way please contact Arja Lytle at arjalytle@sympatico.ca.

BFF (Books for Friends) Project seeking volunteer translators

BFF (Books for Friends) Project:
Looking for parent translators! Can you or someone you know help the BFF project to translate short, student-written books into other languages? This project involves multiple classes and teachers exploring how technology can promote student voice and well-being. Students learn about the importance of diverse books and reflect on their own identity e.g., culture, heritage, lived experiences, race, gender etc. Students then create BFF books (books by students for students) that better reflect their identities. The BFF books will be made available to families at TDSB and around the world through a website. If you can assist in translating and proofreading, please visit bit.ly/bffintro (case sensitive).
